How to Plan Your Unique Wedding Your Way!
It’s no secret that planning a wedding can be stressful! But, just like Laura & Scott’s edgy wedding at the Hotel Ocho, planning a wedding can also be super fun and a true reflection of you! Laura and Scott did an incredible job planning and executing their edgy wedding at the Hotel Ocho. Their wedding was the perfect reflection of their personalities and uniqueness! I’m talking burgundy suits, a surprise tattoo session, and skulls! OH THE SKULLS! I swoon!
We capture many weddings in Toronto and beyond. Despite this, we still get goosebumps when we see all the lovely details and unique elements that couples bring to their special day! Laura & Scott’s wedding was a perfect example of a couple creating a swoon-worthy day that was absolutely theirs!

Don’t Forget – The Day is YOURS!
We understand that there are so many various elements that need to be considered for your wedding. However, sometimes it is important to take a step back and figure out what needs to be a priority in order to make your day a reflection of you as a couple! Whether it’s the playlist, the flowers, the suits, or the rings – any little detail can be part of your whole story.
Laura and Scott are super sweet, urban, and frankly, two of the coolest people we ever met! Their day was a true reflection of this urban edgy coolness. For example their choice of venue, Hotel Ocho, was right downtown and in one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in Toronto. Practically, it was easy for out-of-town guests because they had the option of booking rooms right in the venue. But for the couple, the location was also a reflection of their urban romance and life together!
The city backdrop was so important to Laura and Scott, that we incorporated it into their first look, bridal party photos, and portraits! The Hotel Ocho is surrounded by urban landscape, alleyways, and traditional Toronto architecture. Therefore it was pretty easy to hang out around the venue and capture Laura and Scott in their natural habitat!

It’s All in the Details!
Laura and Scott incorporated little decor details that were both unique but also very much an expression of who they are as a couple. For example, instead of wearing a traditional black or grey suit, Scott opted for a funky burgundy combo. Not only was this a unique choice, but it also complemented the couple’s floral arrangements and decor! Laura and Scott’s harvest table centrepieces featured little gold skulls made into succulent vases. As a huge fan of skulls myself, (may have been a pirate in my previous life!) I literally squealed in excitement when I saw them!

The Ceremony & Beyond…
We’ve been known to get chocked up a little bit – especially during the ceremony and speeches. Some of the most beautiful things are said and some of the most genuine tears are shed during this time. It’s hard not to get emotional. What really got us for Laura and Scott’s wedding was Scott’s unique and everlasting declaration of love for Laura! You see lovers, Scott’s ring was no ordinary ring. Nope! Scott tattooed his wedding ring right after the ceremony! Not only were we witnesses to this unique event, but we were also there to immortalize it! Common! How cool is that?

So we consider ourselves pretty humble people, but one thing both Hugh and I always like to brag about are the relationships we like to foster with the amazing couples and families we have the privilege to capture – I’m not going to lie, we are kinda like bad pennies, and for the most part it’s pretty hard to get rid of us! But despite the fact that we LOVE all our couples and we maintain friendships with them long after their big day is done, once in a while we meet someone that we just instantly click with, like they have us at “hello!” This was absolutely the case with Anna & Andrew! From the moment they stepped into our lives both Hugh and I just fell in love with their energy, quirkiness (keep in mind we, ourselves, are pretty darn quirky), their obvious affection for each other, and their natural ability to just relax, chill, and have a good time – we were kindred spirits right from the start! I think they kinda picked up on that, because what was meant to be an hour “business” meeting turned into a two hour gab session about everything from weddings to Star Trek, Thailand, Lululemon, and on. So when, a couple of days later, they asked us to capture their big day, we were beyond thrilled – and a beautiful friendship was born… (well either that or they just still can’t rid of us!) Just like Anna and Andrew, themselves, their wedding was equally beautiful, chill, and hilarious (Andrew is a pretty funny guy – get Hugh and him together and there is no stopping their silliness!) They got married in a beautiful old church in Oakville, the chapel was filled with laughs, and tears as they committed to a lifetime with each other, after the ceremony we whisked the couple away to an old estate where we hung out, laughed some more (probably more than is actually appropriate for a work day) and snapped the happy couple as they snuggled, danced, and laughed (a lot of laughter at this one folks!) with us. I am told that the night ended on the same high note, and the party went into the wee hours of the morning. I honestly would not expect anything less from these two – but I will let them tell you their story in their own words. Scroll down, and enjoy – oh and I dare you not to smile…
