Meet Maria & Anthony
Maria and Anthony – man what can we say!? These two lovers are the cat’s pyjamas in our world. They are funny (actually hilarious), kind, considerate, affectionate, and they love dogs. Enough said! But seriously, these two humans put the cherry on our ice cream, and their pet-friendly Twist Gallery wedding was the stuff of legends!
I first met Maria and Anthony, along with the love of their lives, Pam, during their couples’ session in High Park. Despite the fact that we’ve only chatted on the phone a few times, we had an immediate connection. Maybe it’s because Maria is originally from Newfoundland, and who doesn’t love the warmth of a Newfoundlander!? Or maybe perhaps it is because Anthony is also in the creative sector. Either way, we hit it off instantly!
Maria and Anthony’s pet-friendly Twist Gallery wedding was filled with beautiful and unique elements. All of these combined, made their day unequivocally theirs! They even incorporated Pam, their beloved pup, into the day! The cuteness factor was strong in this one folks! Check out how they made their day so special and uniquely their own!
Incorporating Your Pet in Your Wedding
Anyone who owns a pet knows that pets become family almost instantly! They are little fur-babies that need to be included in all of our lives’ biggest events. Weddings are no exception. While not all weddings are conducive to having a dog or cat join the party, there are some ways to make sure your furry friends don’t get left out.
Maria and Anthony, for example, really wanted Pam to be part of the formal family photos. Of course, we were only too happy to oblige! As dog-owners ourselves, we know how a pet is an integral part of the family unit. The day of the wedding, a family member brought Pam to the family photo site and we made sure to snap A TON of photos of this furry little baby! Alternatively, because Twist Gallery was super accommodating, Maria and Anthony were able to incorporate Pam into their actual ceremony. This way Pam didn’t miss out on her human parents’ celebration of love.
While not all venues are able to accept pets into their space, there is never any harm in asking. If the answer is no, think about incorporating your furry friend in the family photos or into an engagement session. We never say no!
Getting Ready & The First Look
While Maria and Anthony were definitely the stars of the day, Pam also played a huge role throughout. Maria made sure to book a pet-friendly AirBNB for her bridal party that accommodated the furry bridesmaid! In addition, there wasn’t a single detail of the day that left Pam the pooch out of the festivities! In fact, Pam had the leading role on the couple’s invitation – a super sweet way to include your pet in the details of your wedding!
Taking a Coffee Break
Like most weddings, Maria and Anthony’s day was jam-packed with events. So, in order for them to have a bit of a breather in between their portrait session, we took them on a little detour to one of our favourite cafes! On one hand, the little pit-stop allowed our couple to have a much-needed caffeine boost. On the other hand, it was also a cute way to capture one of their favourite pass-times on their wedding day!
The Ceremony
To be honest, I am not too sure about who received the most attention during Maria and Anthony’s ceremony. The two lovers were definitely beautifully in love as they vowed to spend their lives together. But it may have been a special furry guest that kept the guests oooohing and awwwing. Just saying…
Golden Hour Photos
If you follow us on Instagram you know how obsessed we are with Golden Hour! If you don’t follow us – you should, we are cool (at least my mom says we are!) Golden hour is that magical time of the day shortly before sunset when the light hits softly casting a beautiful golden glow. Golden hour is lovely because everyone looks amazing (BONUS!) But also because the light is so soft that harsh shadows and squinting are always avoided. Basically, it’s a photographer’s wet-dream (am I allowed to say that in a blog post?!) We always encourage our couples to trust us and take a few minutes to hang out with us during this time. Why? Look below and you will see!
The Party
To be honest, I have few words to describe the epic reception or Maria and Anthony’s pet-friendly Twist Gallery wedding. The photos will say it all! But I will say this – the food was amazing (Gusto101 step it up every single time). The emotions were raw, the music was incredible, & the dancing brought the roof down. All the elements for one helluva party! Enjoy!
